"Call-off" stock is a term used to refer to a commercial arrangement under
which a supplier puts a stock of goods at the disposal of his customer, but
only sells those goods if and when they are used or "called off" from the
stock by the customer. This kind of arrangement means the supplier bears the
cost of maintaining the stock until the customer wants it and it is common
in, for example, the automotive and pharmaceutical industries.
