General Summary
The Photolithography Process Development Engineerwill be responsible for the d
eveloping advanced photolithography processes for thin film heads,developing a

d monitoring metrology recipes for prototype wafers, and recommending improvem
ents in the photolithography development process.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and delivers advanced photolithography processes for thin film heads.
Develops, monitors, and analyzes metrology recipes for prototype wafers.Collec
ts and analyzes various types of data; may recommend process changes based upo
n data analysis.Reviews and documents photolithography processes and procedure
s; updates existing methodology as needed.Reviews, selects, and qualifies new
tools and equipment which improve yield and quality.Develops and delivers vari
ous reports on a daily, weekly, or ad-hoc basis.Collaborates with equipment ve
ndors and maintenance technicians regarding hardware performance issues.Conduc
ts failure analysis to isolate performance issues and recommends corrective ac
tion.Interacts with other products group regarding process-related issues and
product requirements.Adheres to all safety policies and procedures as required
.Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Job Specification and Requirements*
Master's degree in Chemical or Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or P
hysics and/or equivalent relevant experience - PhD preferred.Five years of exp
erience in photolithography in either the magnetic recording head or semicondu
ctor industry as well as experience with the use of Statistical Process Contro
l (SPC) in high volume wafer manufacturing.Proficient in the use of Microsoft
Office Applications.Knowledge of semiconductor industry principles, practices,
and techniques.Knowledge of magneto-resistance technology as it relates to fa
brication of hard disk drive manufacturing processes.Knowledge and ability to
use Microsoft Office applications to create spreadsheets, Word documents, and
presentations.Able to analyze data, create various reports, and recommend corr
ective action.Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, w
ith all levels of contractors, consultants, employees, and management.Able to
work productively and collaboratively with all levels of employees and managem
ent.Able to comply with all safety policies and procedures.Demonstrated organi
zational and time management skills.Demonstrated problem-solving and trouble s
hooting skills.Demonstrated ability to use SPC to monitor and analyze data.Fle
xible and able to prioritize.
Work Schedule, Conditions and Physical Requirements ***
The Photolithography Process Development Engineer works primarily in an office
environment from Monday to Friday. The schedule maybe altered from time-to-ti
me to meet business or operational needs; may travel from building-to-building
as needed. Works in a class 100 ESD sensitive wafer fab manufacturing facilit
y; adheres to required safety and dress standards. Stands and walks; performs
various fine grasping movements, bends, and twists; operates a computer and en
ters information using a keyboard, operates a telephone, and other office equi
pment.
