三星14日宣布,將在2021年推出突破性的3奈米製程「環繞式閘極結構」(
Gate-All-Around,GAA)技術,具備速度更快、更輕薄短小、耗電更低等優勢。三星並宣
稱,在GAA技術領先台積電一年。
業界認為,三星半導體事業近期面臨DRAM與儲存型快閃記憶體(NAND Flash)兩大產品市
況低迷問題,亟需對外加大力度宣傳其半導體事業競爭力,此次高分貝宣傳其晶圓代工技
術,力槓台積電,也意味兩強的先進製程戰火進一步延燒。
事實上,台積電3奈米製程也正如火如荼規劃中,其3奈米投資計畫在去年底通過環差變更
審查後,已啟動在南科晶圓18廠的第四到六期新廠興建。
台積電3奈米計畫主要在南科的晶圓18廠,台積電內部將5奈米和3奈米視為同一計畫,全
數集中在晶圓18廠,目前也調派菁英部隊,全力督軍建廠工程,台積電甚至在竹部成立研
發中心,全力投注3奈米及以下先進制程,估計台積電從5奈米到3奈米製程,投資總額即
超過1.5兆元,帶動的群聚效應更是驚人。
依照台積電創辦人張忠謀在主持晶圓18廠時提出的完工藍圖,3奈米應可在2021年試產、
2022年量產,成為全球第一家提供晶圓代工服務,同時解決很多AI人工智慧晶片功效更強
大的晶圓代工廠,讓全球半導體產業跨足新紀元。
科技網站CNET報導,三星在加州舉行的三星晶圓代工論壇(Samsung Foundry Forum)上
表示,GAA技術將是三星與台積電、英特爾競爭中的重要一步,重新設計晶片核心的電晶
體,使電晶體更小、更快。近年來,晶片製造業者都苦於克服晶片最小化的工程挑戰。
根據三星釋出的資訊,GAA技術重新設計電晶體底層結構,號稱將可提升速度性能35%、使
用空間減少45%,以及電力消耗減少50%。
國際商業策略(International Business Strategies)執行長瓊斯指出,三星的材料研
究計畫正開始獲得回報。他說:「三星在GAA技術方面已經超越台積電,可能領先達12個
月。」

GAA全名為Gate-All-Around,又被稱為「閘極全環」,是種多閘極電晶體,能使用一個電
極同時控制多個閘極的電晶體。GAA是當前鰭式場效電晶體(FinFET) 進化版的晶片生產
技術;或稱「環繞式結構 FET」,能對晶片核心進行全新改造與設計,使晶片更小,處理
速度更快且更省電,是一項全新的電晶體架構 。
