Hi all,
Qualcomm GPS team is now expanding and having 20+ openings for
Systems/SW/Test Eng. The openings are in both San Diego and Bay Area.
The majority of the open positions are Software Engineering positions.
You can find the detailed job descriptions of the three skill.
Please send your resume to [email protected] if you are interested.
----
Systems Engineer - gpsOne/GNSS systems
Candidate will be responsible for designing, defining, verifying and
integrating PHY requirements for support of new GNSS signals (e.g.,
modernized GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, Compass, QZSS, etc.). Candidate will also
contribute to advanced topics, such as multi-path mitigation, real-time
kinematics (RTK), analysis of high availability or low power alternative
(non-GPS) location technologies. Candidate responsible for simulations to
evaluate or optimize GPS system performance or to verify GPS
hardware/software. Focus on developing state-of-the art, competitive
commercial positioning solutions and contributing to a strong IP portfolio.
System level understanding and experience working with wireless modem systems
Strong background in RF or digital communications, spread-spectrum signal
processing, probability and random processes.
Programming skills in C and MATLAB required.
RF systems and/or CDMA, UMTS, GPS physical layer design experience a big
plus.
Educational Requirements:
Must have MSEE with studies in digital communications, signal processing,
probability and random processes. Wireless study desired.
----
Software Engineer - GPS
Candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and test of real
time embedded software within a very dynamic group setting. Will work closely
with other software, hardware, and ASIC design engineers involved with
research and development of highly sensitive market driven wireless-assisted
Global Positioning System (GPS) location technology.
Must be a motivated team player who is capable of contributing at all
technical levels. Knowledge of C programming on embedded microprocessor
systems and experience with medium to large-scale systems that run under a
real time OS required. The applicant should possess a detailed understanding
of intertask communication, task priorities, interrupts and HW constraints as
applicable to such an environment.
- Knowledge of GPS and DSP technologies
- Experience with ARM processor cores
- Familiarity with 2nd and 3rd generation wireless technologies
Education Requirements: BS minimum in CS or EE, MS preferred.

Posting Title:
Test Engineer - GPS
Job Description:
. Provide day-to-day, tactical direction to team of engineers and technicians
executing GPS field testing. Delegate task assignments and project
responsibilities to meet project goals and schedules.
. Plan for long-term growth needs of both the field test team, and the
overall technology team working on AGPS. Incorporate new technologies, test
tools, and procedures to help team add test capabilities and capacity.
. When appropriate, lead field testing campaigns to assess performance of
current software, new technologies and devices, and to satisfy
customer-requested testing.
. Design test cases, author test plans and test reports as needed.
. Balance multiple requirements, resource and schedule constraints, and
resolve priority contentions to help overall AGPS technology team
successfully support its customers.
Skills/Experience:
Required: experience testing wireless, portable technologies in field
environments. In-depth knowledge of one of the following technical areas: GPS
device or technology testing, UMTS/GSM device or network testing, or embedded
systems software testing. Demonstrated track record of launching
commercial-quality software in high-technology consumer markets, working with
dynamic, schedule-driven teams. Experience managing, recruiting, and growing
a well-functioning, motivated, and effective engineering team. Very good
communications skills - both written and verbal - as well as good
presentation skills are needed. Must be adept at working with remote teams
(both geographically diverse teams and technically diverse teams).
Additional Skills:
Knowledge of any of the following a plus: GPS signal processing, GIS
tools/programming/modeling environments (ArcGIS, Google Earth, Matlab), CDMA
systems (both generic DSSS or FHSS, or wireless network specific CDMA1X,
EVDO, or UMTS), Perl or other scripting language, or C/C++ programming in
Win32 environment.
Education Requirements:
Required: Bachelor's, Computer Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering or
equivalent experience
Preferred: Master's, Computer Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering or
equivalent experience
