台積電董事長張忠謀昨(4)日表示,未來五到10年內,半導體產業將遭遇摩爾定律逐漸走不下去、EUV(極紫外光)微影技術困難等兩項重大瓶頸,期盼光電學界能共同努力突破難關。
台積電今年拿下蘋果A8處理器大單,營運逐季創高,張忠謀昨天出席國際光電工程學會舉辦的「2014年國際光電研討會」,並獲頒「遠見獎(Visionary Award)」,神情顯得相當愉悅,並少見地秀出手上的iPhone 6 Plus,力挺客戶。
張忠謀是此獎全球第四位得主。張忠謀指出,25年來半導體最重要的創新發明,大部分都是來自前端設計公司,而非垂直整合的整合元件製造廠(IDM),IC設計公司的創新,尤其低功耗、高效能的晶片,成為改變世界的力量。
摩爾定律指半導體製程每18個月,就會進入另一個世代,電晶體數量將倍數增加,推升半導體晶片更小、效能更強。不過,隨半導體先進製程已推演至10奈米,受到EUV輸出率還未能達到業界預期,預料到7奈米以下就會遭到極大阻力。
張忠謀認為,包括物聯網、智慧穿戴及智慧家庭等,將接續推動未來半導體產業成長,但相關技術如何迎合這些趨勢發展,將成為各家努力研究的課題。
