格羅方德誓拿 7 奈米冠軍地位，IBM 助威 - 工程師

IBM Corp. 在 2014 年 10 月倒貼 15 億美元將晶片部門賣給晶圓代工廠格羅方德半導體
（GlobalFoundries Inc.）後，格羅方德經歷數個寒暑的潛沉，現在終於決定出關，首度
宣示要拿下 7 奈米製程技術的領導地位。
Electronics Weekly 25 日報導，格羅方德在購併 IBM 晶片部門後，如今極有自信，認
為能以自家研發的獨家製程技術奪得業界冠軍。格羅方德科技長 Gary Patton 在接受專
訪時表示，IBM 購併案為公司帶來高階人才，研發 7 奈米的研究人員，是之前開發過
45 奈米、32 奈米、22 奈米與 14 奈米技術的同一團隊。
Patton 還說，格羅方格位於紐約的 Malta 廠目前 14 奈米的良率很高，這打下良好基礎
，能更順利地推進到次代製程。目前 Malta 廠仍由 IBM 負責經營。
Patton 並表示，就算極紫外光（EUV）微影設備交貨延遲，格羅方德的 7 奈米製程技術
也能降低矽晶圓成本。他相信，EUV 會在 2020 年廣泛應用於生產製程，2018-2019 年期
間則會小範圍使用。
