面試水果社也是一年前的事了, 趁過年來分享一下遲來的經驗~
我是申請海外的水果社的某Sr. SW Engineer,
我的背景是新竹某大學BS+美國某top20大學MS,
待過小豬屎屋跟某系統廠~
本來recruiter跟我說有可能要onsite面試,
不過最後所有的面試都是phone interview或facetime+即時coding,
(是說phone interview也是用facetime audio啦)
除了recruiter外其他都是用英文溝通,
每個面試官都不超過30分鐘,
感覺是要在30分鐘內決定自己要不要讓這個applicant進入下一階段XD
第一次:
recruiter打來做初步screening, 問一些對於工作的期望,
一些團隊合作上你的想法, 還有為何要換工作之類,
(除了現在的工作外, 之前的工作有換過的也都問)
然後介紹這個position要做甚麼, 工作型態等等,
問是否能接受這樣的工作方式,
還有做一些教育背景跟工作經驗的確認,
最後解釋一下公司的薪資結構,
並問是否能接受這樣的結構, 還有問一下我目前的總年薪大約的水準.
第二次:
這次是technical interview,
問一些基本的演算法和資料結構問題,
接著問一些OS相關的問題(multi-threading之類的),
然後就是比較靈活的底層的問題,
例如給我一個問題, 叫我口述psuedo code,
解釋一下為什麼這樣做等等,
我被問到的問題跟heap/stack, pagefile等等的比較有關係,
要確切的知道一個program被compile後是甚麼樣子,
還有OS會怎麼樣load它並run, pointer觀念要很清楚,
才答得出來.(assembly level)
這階段滿順利的, 我有是先查一下這個面試官的linkedin,
看過他的背景, 猜對了他問的方向.
第三次:
這次也是technical interview, 我也是有先查了面試官的背景,
看起來這個人跟我申請的不是同一個team, 但是有相關性,
所以我推測這次是請未來要合作的team的人來面試,
所以應該不會太technical.
結果這次主要是在了解我過去工作經驗做的事情,
要我敘述一下我之前做過甚麼, 有甚麼得意的事跟不得意的事,
基本上履歷上寫的東西都問得很仔細~
所以寫的東西跟說的話都要非常的實在跟小心,
不然很容易被challenge~
第四次:
這次總共4hr, 八個人來做technical interview,
這次就是線上coding了, 八個人輪番上陣,
每個人都開一個online editor,
然後出題目讓你寫, 透過facetime看著你這樣,
當你online editor上停下來太久時他們會問你你在想甚麼,
所以後來我乾脆就邊想邊亂打字, 免得被問問題中斷思考XD
題目難度還好, 大概就leet code上中間難度以下的那樣,
不過我沒空刷leet code就是了, 有刷的話應該可以秒殺吧我猜:p
比較不一樣的就是對於一些常見的問題,
他會跟你說你不可以用常見的方法解, 要想其他的解法,
或是要求演算法時間效率或空間效率之類的,
還有一位是他問的問題都叫你用遞迴再寫一次給他看~
(拿到offer後才知道原來這位是team lead, 難怪他最後一題說,
這個如果你三分鐘內可以改成遞迴我們就進下一階段XD)
不過也是有一位問一些比較實務上的,
例如要我寫一個thread safe的framework,
還有他看到我履歷上的某一部分是跟他做的重疊,
就問我相關的細節~
這次結束後隔天就收到下一次interview通知,
前三次大概都等了一個禮拜左右~
(題外話, 面試完這次覺得水果很佛心,
某G社一上來最簡單的就是變形的背包問題..)
第五次:
這次還是technical interview,
原本預定有兩個面試官, 是HQ的人,
不過其中一個臨時被派去解urgent issue,
而另一個面試官問的是debugging skill,
給你情境題問, 你如果是你的話你會怎麼下手看問題,
然後根據你的回答再給予你更詳細的資訊讓你能繼續debug下去.
這次一樣是用facetime, 如果面談中有需要你寫甚麼的話,
也是透過online editor來進行.
這次面試之後就很快了,
recruiter在面試完後一小時就打來約下次.
第六次:
這次就是上一次因為被抓去救火解bug沒跟我談到的那位,
也是HQ那邊的人,
查了一下發現他有很強的工程師背景,
原本以為會是technical的面試, 不過這次意外輕鬆,
問的問題大都是你期望在水果能achieve甚麼,
還有你認為你可以給水果帶來甚麼,
也有一些簡單的technical問題,
不過是只要大學有認真上課應該都答得出來的那種XD
跟這位講完後, 他問我接下來30分鐘有沒有空?
雖然其實已經是要趕去上班的時間了,
(大部分面談時間都是清晨六~七點左右)
不過我當然還是說有空囉,
然後他說他們Director剛好有空, 他想直接請Director來跟我談,
於是就直接跟Director談了.
看到Director大概心裡有底應該是穩了,
想說應該是比較偏人格特質呀抗壓性或是career vision之類的問題,
但意外的是Director一上來就直接出題,
給了我一個問題說這是個曾經發生在iPhone4上的問題,
他們當時花了很久的時間才解掉,
問我我會怎麼debug.
這個問題牽扯到許多不同的team跟vendor,
不過剛好這堆東西我在某系統廠待的時候都接觸過,
也曾經花了非常多時間跟腦力去解,
所以我運氣很好, 被問的當下不太需要思考就可以直接回答,
於是我花了五分鐘跟他確認整個流程跟我的想法,
並告訴他我還有些環節想了解以釐清這個問題,
不過他笑著說他不能透漏更多了,
我已經給了他他想聽的答案, 已經足夠了這樣 lol
然後他就一直問我是不是真的願意離鄉背井到水果工作,
一直強調如果我沒有堅強的意志的話我們就不要浪費彼此的時間XD
這次結束後大概半小時就收到recruiter的通知說我們進入offer stage.
這個offer negotiation process大概跑了一個月,
(這個階段要附上最近幾個月的payslip供水果社參考)
從投履歷到拿到offer總共大概三個月吧,
不過最後我還是reject了水果的offer XD
offer細節就不能透漏了,
只能說薪資跟福利真的很優秀, 假也好多啊XD
(也可能是因為缺掛在美國的關係就是了)
但有些東西還是要靠自己爭取, 不然就是只能拿公定價這樣 lol
team lead後來非常有誠意的花了兩小時用私人手機從美國打來勸我加入它們,
不過經過許多考量後還是....選了別家(默)
同時期也有面試intel, google, qualcomm, nvidia...etc.
不過細節都沒有水果社記得這麼清楚XD
只記得intel跟google的technical interview都很燒腦,
每次離開他們辦公室或者掛掉電話後都有那種虛脫的感覺orz
不過google的recruiter真的給人感覺很舒服, 有備受尊重的感覺!
intel就普通了, recruiter的存在感極低....
qualcomm, nvidia...還有其他幾家外商就還好,
就像是去考個期中考這樣,
其中幾家說現在都是contractor的缺, 就....謝謝再聯絡(揮手)
不過每家的共通點是每家都對過去經驗問得很詳細,
所以那些只有碰過一下、用過但其實沒很熟的東西就不要寫在履歷上了XD
