Itron’s, Raleigh, NC facility, is seeking a Systems Engineer to drive the day to day operation of OpenWay release management processes. This individual will create release manifests for software/firmware release packages and will interface with R&D teams, SQA, and Technical Communications to define and confirm required components. This person will work with documentation control departments to create and record part numbers for release kits and components and will maintain documentation database of
release activities and history and will manage workflow process to track release approval authorization(s).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with software development, firmware development and SQA engineering teams to perform SDLC product release management activities
- Maintain detailed historical database of release management activities Maintain repository of SW/FW objects
- Respond to inquiries from technical support regarding software and firmware versions’ release compatibility
- Enter, manipulate, and report on requirements stored in the repository
- Maintain requirements traceability information and track requirements status throughout the release cycle
- Assist in the management of the Requirements Change Control Processes
- Participate in design reviews
Required Skills:
- This position requires a minimum of 3-5 years of related experience with software development lifecycles
- Familiarity with formalized SDLC process management is required
- Experience with MS Office suite including Excel is a must
- Experience with SharePoint is a must
- Quick Learner and ability to work in team and individual contributor role
- Must have superior written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with Feature and Functional requirements as well as Use Cases and User Stories
- Ability to talk with individuals and groups about their needs and ask the right questions to identify essential requirements information
- Demonstrate effective writing skills in order to communicate information to customers, managers, and technical staff
- Strong interpersonal skills. Assist in negotiating priorities and resolving conflicts among project stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with SQL and XSLT scripting is a plus
- Smart grid/smart metering or utility industry experience is not required
Education: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience.
Travel: 10 – 20%
Physical Demands: This is a typical office job, with no special physical requirements or unusual work environment.
