科技業裁員蔓延 應材宣布砍員900-1300人 - 工程師

全球最大晶片生產設備製造商應用材料 (Applied Materials)(AMAT-US) 周三 (3 日) 盤
後宣布，將裁員 900-1300 人，相當於總人力的 6%-9%，以節省支出。因公司晶片製造設
備業務走軟，且太陽能及顯示器部門也遭遇困難。
應材表示，將透過優惠自願退休計畫及其他措施，預定在明年 7 月底前完成裁員計畫。
應材目標這項行動，預期將為公司每年節省 1.4-1.9 億美元支出，但需支付 1.8-2.3 億
美元重組費用，將在 2012 會計年度第四季開始計算。
應材今年 8 月公布，至 7 月底結束的年度第三季獲利銳減 54%，因銷售額減少及重組費
用拖累。當時應材發布的現行季財測，也不如分析師預期。
應材執行長 Mike Splinter 在聲明中表示，公司正採取行動來調整全球組織及人力，並
投資關鍵產品開發能力，以加強業務成長能力。
應材盤後股價一度應聲下挫近 1.5% 報 11 美元，稍後回升至持平於 11.16 美元。
