MBA Intern Global Social Analytics (eBay)
Job Location: San Jose, CA
This role will combine knowledge of Social Media Strategy, Social Metrics and
business analysis, problem solving, and analysis skills to develop metrics
modelling frameworks and reporting for social business success metrics for
Social Commerce, Social CS and Social Brand for eBay globally.
The analyst will also interpret data and share insights from social sources
(i.e. Facebook, Twitter, blogs, Tumblr, etc.) pulling research and relevant
data. The analyst will be responsible for distilling this information into
actionable insights with consistent reporting to help drive the business
forward.
- Help set up efficient data collecting processes, keep abreast of analytics
tools, design reporting templates, compile competitive reports,to make the
data consumption process efficient.
- Translate business needs into analytics requirements, define approach and
develop social metrics for eBay Social Commerce Team for social commerce
products and site integrations.
- Develop reports and deep dive requests from team leadership, executives,
and internal partners. Build close partnership with the Social Commerce
Product and other Analytics teams to drive results;
- Support Product Management in their interactions/analysis of Social Network
Data including Facebook Insights, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest and work with
Analytics Platform, and Product Development, and provide useful insights.
- Manage end-to-end reporting projects adhering to timelines and directing/
collaborating with others.
- Develop relationships across the organization, collaborate and share best
practices; Innovate, identify and explore new analytics and operational
opportunities eBay Global Social Analytics
- Evaluate large, complex data sets applying advanced quantitative approaches
in hypothesis evaluation
- Develop new frameworks, models and processes turning key insights into
actionable decisions and business operations;
- Deliver informative, well-organized communication of insights and
recommendations to internal partners. Deal with ambiguity by getting timely
clarifications and deliver results.
- Perform statistical analysis on data for trend analysis and test vs.
control analysis for decision-making.
- Compile cross-platform social media/consumer engagement data from client
platforms and programs and develop client-facing reports with quantitative
and qualitative insights.
- Translate sets of data (brand metrics, sales/CRM data, Web analytics) into
meaningful insights and specific digital communication opportunities.
- Understand the dynamics of all the different social media environments and
provide valuable insights to both business and social teams on campaign
performance, competitive activity, and new opportunities for growth.
Job Requirements
1-2 years of social metrics including social media monitoring, social media
ROI calculations and/or analysis of Facebook Insights Data for Connect and
OpenGraph integrations.
- Familiar media and social data and listening tools such as Alterian SM2,
Peoplebrowsr. Socialbakers, Tweetreach, SimplyMeasured, Nielsen BuzzMetrics,
Radian6 and other tools to compile social media data.
- Passion for social media and social metrics and a hunger to learn about new
social business models and niche social networks and their impact on Social
Commerce in general, of eBay in particular, and a strong desire to want to be
a part of shaping its future.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines in a dynamic/changing
environment, as well as to set priorities based on judgment, in a complex
work environment, building consensus and fostering a team atmosphere
- Strong interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal presentation
skills
- High energy and a desire to work in a results-oriented, innovative, fast
growth environment
- Excellent partner management skills and global perspective.
- Collaborative team player with ability to work in large, global
cross-functional teams.
