It was three o’clock in the morning but my phone had kept ringing for 10
minutes. I opened my eyes reluctantly and picked it up. “Your father was
just diagnosed with stage 3 renal cancer!” “Oh! Come on! It’s not funny”
I felt badly annoyed. Unfortunately, the following 10 calls came from my
aunts, uncles, and sister made me realize that it was not a joke. My father
was truly ill seriously. All of my family members couldn’t believe it, and
they even thought that was somewhat a mistake. Despite the fact that I was as
stunned and distressed as others, I didn’t indulge in the sorrow but contact
the attending and make arrangements right away. After all matters settled and
my careful illustration, the anxiety of my family was pacified. At that
moment, I was deeply appreciate that my major was medicine. With professional
understanding of medicine, I could free myself and family from helpless
status. It is this painful experience that makes me recognize that a doctor
bears grave responsibilities. From then on, I devote myself to learning
medicine more than ever, sincerely hoping one day I will become a doctor with
sophisticated medical techniques and a sympathetic heart.
