希望能幫助到所有準備面試或即將成為Garmin的員工
我進入Garmin約2個月的時候被通知捲舖蓋走人
我加入的是去年剛成立的軟體測試部門
我的直屬主管A在這間公司小有名氣
(為什麼出名在這邊就不便說明了)
被約談的時間點在我進入Garmin約滿兩個月的時候
我被交代了做一份報告在公司內部論壇上
我如期完成了這份,但我犯了一個錯誤是, 還沒有約會議室和A報告
B認為我這是重大疏失, 我道歉說很抱歉我還沒有約會議室報告
但B不滿意, 因為這段時間他一直從A那邊聽說我表現不好
我反問說, 如果A覺得我表現不好, 我怎麼都不知道?
B說像是我沒有預約會議室和他報告這件事
我說除了這件事之外, 可以舉例還有什麼事情嗎?
A沉默了一陣子, 說不出來, 然後轉移話題…
接著進入重點, 他們覺得我不是他們要找的志同道合的人
然後請我離開
我說我怎麼樣不符合你們的標準呢?
接著我聽到了為什麼我下巴沒有掉下來的回答
因為感覺!!!
我說這是一間科技公司吧? 可不可以用具體的方式去評斷一個人的工作表現
如果你覺得我哪裡做不好 為什麼我從來沒收到A的提醒或指責說我哪裡沒做好?
這時候開始A和B開始鬼打牆說他們看了很多人很會看人
我說那面試的時候怎麼沒有看出來?
他們說因為只有面試只有幾小時……
(一個破例出現 那這論點…?)
接著我不知道哪根筋不對要跟他們探討這個問題 哈哈
我問你們的樣本數有多少人? B回答30幾人
(30幾人30幾人30幾人30幾人30幾人30幾人30幾人30幾人30幾人)
這一切問題的根源起始於在我加入Garmin的時候在會議上向大主管B問了一個問題
測試產品都沒有log, 那遇到issue時應該怎麼辦呢?
我想這應該是個很要命的問題吧!
因為我問了這個問題之後有人跟我說他覺得我很勇敢
傻傻的我還回說 會嗎? 不就是討論問題嗎?
當天下午我就被B叫進他的辦公室討論討論
我很天真的認為這是一個討論問題解開問題的大好機會
把我一股腦的疑惑跟B提出來討論
包含產品沒有SPEC該如何寫test case
這一個下午我覺得B真的在跟我探討
但殘酷的事實是, 因為沒有log也沒有SPEC
一切都建立於猜測之上, 我們之間沒有結論
隔天早上, 我又被叫進去了
這一天, 他像換了一張臉似的
要我好好想想“這是不是我想要的工作?”
我晴天霹靂, 趕緊說, 你說的我都會去嘗試
自己找個台階逃出他的辦公室
時間點回到被通知捲舖蓋走人
被通知捲舖蓋走人是周四的下午
接下來我花了陸陸續續3~4個小時的時間去和大主管B表達我很有意願留下來繼續努力
也承諾我會很努力用stupid的方式去建立測試感覺
(用stupid的方式去測試建立感覺這個說詞是主管B自己說的)
並且問他當初你錄取我的原因是什麼? 現在這個特質還存在嗎?
B說是邏輯與條理, 對於做測試的工作是很好的特質
而這個特質現在也的確存在, 他也相信我可以勝任
那我說我今天的失誤只是忘了約會議室報告
我犯的錯和我遭受到的逞罰不成比例, 有其他的原因嗎?
我沒有得到正面回應…
主管B幫我約了HR, 我不知道他跟HR說了什麼
HR是中立的角色協助雙方達成共識
(Garmin是一間很守勞基法的公司, 但除此之外也不會給你再多了)
HR在這個階段會啟動一個請主管擬定一個約一個月的目標
請員工去證明自己的工作能力
如果員工證明了他的工作能力, 老闆就不能再用這個原因去請員工走人
我問HR那目標達成之後, 我還是留在原部門嗎?
HR說是, 主管也還會是同一人!!!
這個計畫擬定者會是直接主管A
我將會展開為期至少一個月的計畫 目的是為了繼續留在主管A下工作
我想向主管B爭取不在主管A下工作
主管B說: "其實HR那邊只是一個流程 我們也可以請你這個下午就走人!"
談談主管A
對於主管A我不是第一個被請走路的案例
從主管B, 部門同事, 其他部門同事得知我之前還有2個案例
HR部門有留下記錄報告, 記錄著工作上的管理問題還有一些不只是工作上的問題
但是這間公司依舊讓這位A主管帶人
只是因為喜好的問題就可以請人捲舖蓋走人
我努力讓這篇文章用事件陳述的方式去表達
讓大家思考這樣的工作環境是不是你想要的?
資方和勞方的資訊不對稱造成整個勞方市場一整個沒有保障

: 內容有點多 但我還是想辦法去達成
: 然後在報告前一個月 亞太區的老大突然對某樣產品很有興趣 希望公司也可以做
: 於是 我的題目又多了一項「garmin前所未有的產品」
: 當然,在這期間我身上已經接了開發中的案子。
: 報告的初版 小主管不是很滿意
: 所以我們改了又改 內容加了又加
: 以結果來看 「乏善可陳 沒有深度也沒有廣度」這是經理給的評語。
: 所以連台面都上不去 直接被約談 希望我離開。
: 或許是公司對於有經驗的工程師都抱著「很深的期望」
: 所以他們覺得這種「開發全新產品」的工作應該可以在一個月內就完成。
: 我想應該是我不夠努力吧?不然就是我太小看garmin了吧?

: 總店的工程師說話總是比較有份量
: 得罪了總店的大概就是黑到發亮了
: 但是我記得我之前在包子的時候對岸的工程師也不怎麼鳥我啊www
: 工作內容的話 主管在面試的時候說的都是真的
: 真的很雜 備料 入庫 領料 零件承認 試作 解析 客退品分析 抓bug
: 很佩服十年等級的工程師身上掛著幾十支的案子還可以活得好好的
: 時間差不多了 夢該醒了
