Changing field is never easy, especially in my case: from biology to
nano-engineering. Though I had studied four years in biology apartment, I was
a totally freshman to the engineering area. I didn’t know mechanics of
material, semiconductor fabrication process, and even what “MEMS” is before
I step into engineering. All were strange to me. Fortunately, I am the person
who is always eager to learn new things. I’ve never given up any subjects I
had learned, even those irrelevant subjects for biological students, such as
physics and calculus. Furthermore, I looked for chance to study other
irrelevant subjects aggressively, like computer science, economics, and other
languages, and got passed most of them. Not to mention doing experiment: one
summer in a virus lab and one year project student in a biochemistry lab made
me familiar with research . That’s why I didn’t fear when I changed into
nano-engineering, because I was experienced.
