根據外媒 MacRumors 的報導,在ic設計大廠高通 (Qualcomm) 和聯發科 (Mediatek) 尚
未確定是否會在 2023 年推出採用台積電 3 奈米製程晶片的情況下,蘋果可能是2023年
唯一一家採用台積電 3 奈米製成技術的 IC 設計廠。
報導指出,高通和聯發科之所以猶豫要不要採用台積電 3 奈米製程技術的關鍵,在於 3
奈米製程的成本極高。根據統計,從 10 奈米製程開始,台積電的每片晶圓銷售價格開始
持續上漲。其中,台積電在 2018 年推出 7 奈米製程之際,每片晶圓價格躍升至近
10,000 美元,而到了 2020 年推出 5 奈米製程之際,每片晶圓價格更是突破 16,000
美元。
在每片晶圓售價持續成長的情況下,台積電 3 奈米製程每片晶圓銷售價格更是預期超過
了 20000 美元。雖然這個價格還必須看投產的數量、設計架構等因素來進一步決定。不
過相較於之前5奈米製程的成本仍是大幅成長,這就是高通和聯發科猶豫要不要使用台積
電 3 奈米製程的重要原因之一。
報導指出,根據台積電官方說法,相較於 5 奈米製程,3 奈米製程具有更好的效能、功
耗,其電晶體密度將增加 60%,而在相同運算速度下,功耗將降低 30-35%。加上 3 奈米
製程技術的 SRAM 暫存在電晶體密度上比 5 奈米製程更是高出5%。
另外,市場有消息指出,目前台積電的 3 奈米製程良率,可能低的到達 60% 至 70%,而
高的可能有 75% 至 80%,這對於剛剛量產的 3 奈米製程來說是相當優秀的。因此,目前
可以確認的是,蘋果在 2023 年下半年要發表的 A17 晶片將會使用台積電 3 奈米製程。
而按照蘋果的差異化策略,預計採 3 奈米製程的 A17 晶片將只會用在新一代的 iPhone
15 Pro 和 iPhone 15 Pro Max 等高階機型上,至於標準版 iPhone 15 和 iPhone 15
Plus 則將沿用使用當前的 A16 晶片。
