買了Virginia Woolf的Mrs Dalloway，Oxford的版本，剛剛在看書中介紹Wooolf 的
Biographical Preface，突然看到一小段文字我不是很懂。
Virginia had the free run of her father’s library, a better substitute for
the public school and university education she was denied than most women of
the time could aspire to; her brothers, of course, were sent to Clifton and
Westminster.
不懂的是than most women of the time could aspire to。我不太懂這裡的than的意思
。
我想了想，這裡的than 應該是conjunction吧? 所要比較的是前面的the public school
and university education she was denied跟 most women of the time could
aspire to.
試譯：吳爾芙可自由出入父親的圖書館，它是比公立學校跟大學的教育更好的替代品；吳
爾芙被迫無法接受那種教育，而一般女性更是毫不渴求有受那種教育的機會。
明明是很簡單的字卻不懂，感到很羞恥，所以想來問問高手的意見。請賜教。
