那套用到以下的句子　空白處該怎樣表達

Instead of ................students from famous schools,

this company gives equal opportunities to everyone"


請問空白處可該填入哪個動詞較好?

我是想到selecting

但不知還有無其他更好的用法

2.我想表達一個人生性活潑　但我是要名詞

該用哪個字表達呢　可用vigorousness.嗎
