一本書的"scope" - 翻譯

想請問各位先進
一本報告書當中提到scope (書的編排依序是foreword, introduction, scope)
但是在翻scope時不知道應當使用何字處理?
目前想過「範圍」、「界定」但似乎都不太對
不知道各位在翻譯scope這個字的時候是如何處理的?
不知是否有固定翻法，或是得看該段落的內文呢?
