再談文學（文字）底蘊 - 翻譯

　　為什麼一個嚴重依靠工具書的人不能算是一個真正的（優秀）譯者呢？
這是很簡單的事。不過既然有許多人無法認同，我就不妨和各位探討一下。

　　在文學或文字中，有一個很重要的元素，就是習慣用法。
　　這種東西是需要長時間的文化環境浸淫才能掌握的。
　　而不是翻翻具工書就可以找到答案的。

　　舉個簡單的例子來說，當我們要翻譯 "我聽不懂他說什麼"時，
既可以翻成'I don't know what he said.' 也可以翻成
'I don't know what he says.'還可翻成
'I don't understand what he said.' 或
'I don't understand what he says.' 或
'I can't get his words.' 或
'His words are out of my apprehension.' 或
'His words are out of my understanding.'

但是以上多種翻譯到底哪一句比較適合，或是一樣適合。這就往往
不是工具書可以教你的。而要由你的文學（或文字）底蘊來決定。
你的文字底蘊越厚，就越能體會其中的差別。至於文字底蘊不深的人，
大概會在查完工具書之後說是它們(應該是)完全一樣的。
功力的高深在此就可以區別出來了。

　如果你無法即時反應。通常就意味著你對這方面的
習慣用法缺乏良好的認識或深厚的基礎。

翻譯工具提供的是缺乏文學底蘊判斷的各種參考。但是要如何取捨，
還是得靠你的文學或文字底蘊。因為你不可能每翻譯一句就把相關的習慣
用法查一遍。即使可以，如果缺乏文學底蘊，你查完仍然可能一頭霧水。

　　當然囉！如果只是混飯吃，則不用考慮太多的。
　　也希望你們明白一件事，會把東西交出來翻譯的人，不一定是英文
能力差的人。可能英文能力比你們中的許多人都強很多也不一定。
