請問一句英翻中長句 - 翻譯

是從一本簡化版本的純真年代(The Age of Innocence)看到的


原文：

She sang in Italian, of course, not in English,

the German words of French operas sung by Swedish singers

should be translated in Italian, for the clearer understanding of

English-speaking audiences.

試譯：
為了使以英語為主要語言的觀眾能夠更了解內容，
音樂界有個既定的規矩：
由瑞典歌手所演唱的法文歌劇中，
德文的字彙應翻譯成義大利文，
所以她以義大利文演唱，而非英文。



這裡我有點不明白，
既然要讓英語系的觀眾更了解內容應該是唱英文，怎麼會唱義大利文呢?
想問一下板友是不是我翻譯錯誤



註：上一句是說
該瑞典女歌手吸引了全紐約的人來聽她演唱，
她唱著：他愛我－他不愛我－他愛我!
